In 1949 investigator William V. Morrison, along with folklorist and writer Dr. C.L. W.C. Jameson, a leading authority on Bill the Kid, provides two introductory chapters detailing the circumstances which led to the identification of Roberts as Billy the Kid as well as the events leading up top the discovery of the lost interviews tapes.

The long-lost interviews with William Henry Roberts, alias Henry Antrim, Henry McCarty, Billy Bonney, and Billy the Kid, have been found and for the first time in history are presented here in their entirety.

In 1949 investigator William V. Morrison, along with folklorist and writer Dr. C.L. Sonnichsen, determined that Roberts, then eighty-nine years old, was, in truth, the outlaw Billy the Kid, the famous badman many believed to have been shot and killed by sheriff Pat Garrett in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, on July 14, 1881. The old man was subjected to a series of interviews, all of which were taped. During the interviews, Roberts provided observations, insights, and details about the Kid, the Lincoln County War, and other important historical and geographical details unknown to the historians of the day, all of which have subsequently been verified. The information could only have come from someone who had been there and participated.

In 1955 the tapes vanished and were presumed to be lost. Several efforts to locate them ended in failure. Then, in 1995 they were discovered in an old trunk that once belonged to Roberts. The tapes were retrieved, studied, and transcribed, and their contents presented here in their entirety.

W.C. Jameson, a leading authority on Bill the Kid, provides two introductory chapters detailing the circumstances which led to the identification of Roberts as Billy the Kid as well as the events leading up top the discovery of the lost interviews tapes.

“There are not many left, we dreamers and wanderers…We are a breed of men addicted to danger, adventure, and the quest.” Thus begins W.C. Jameson’s account of one intrepid man’s efforts to find the lost treasures of North America and beyond. Jameson and his partners piece together centuries-old histories through documents, maps, and stories passed down from one generation to the next, facing life-threatening danger time and again. These riveting stories, told with humor and candor, are a portal to another time, and are a testament to the spirited independence of risk-takers, a few of whom still exist in what we think of as the modern age.

Although not one of Garlic Press’s books we find it relevant to acknowledge this treasured book by one of our own authors. A memoir by W.C. Jameson.Truly a great read and a book you will not want to put down until finished. It is available at Amazon in print and digital.

“What W.C. Jameson has done in real life makes National Treasure and other features pale in comparison. It is the stuff that dreams—and nightmares and sometimes fortunes—are made of. His objective may be gold or silver, but what he’s really after is adventure. This book is destined to become a classic not only among treasure hunters but for anyone who is determined to live life to the fullest. When I grow up, I want to be just like W.C. Jameson.“

—Max McCoy, author of Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Sphinx

W.C. is releasing several of these documents in this Civil War series of Lost Treasures.

From the author: The prevailing evidence suggests that the fabulous Cobb County, Georgia, gold cache is still buried in the original location. To date, those who were known to have searched for it did not avail themselves of the most up-to-date state-of-the-art metal detection devices. The consensus among researchers is that the cache was not buried deep and that a patient and diligent searcher equipped with a high quality metal detector would stand a great chance at locating this treasure trove of gold coins.

Garlic Press Publishing is proud to announce the latest print release of Lost Mines and Buried Treasures of the Guadalupe Mountains by W.C. Jameson. “Many professional treasure hunters are convinced that more lost mines and buried treasures are associated with the Guadalupe Mountains of West Texas than any other single geographic region in the world.
“Many professional treasure hunters are convinced that more lost mines and buried treasures are associated with the Guadalupe Mountains of West Texas than any other single geographic region in the world. The evidence supports this notion. This unique mountain range, a millions-of-years-old uplifted barrier reef in the Trans-Pecos desert has been home to Apaches, wolves, bears, mountain lions, and large rattlesnakes. According to long-standing lore, along with a number of significant discoveries, it is also a prime location for lost mines and buried treasure.” ~ W.C. Jameson
